House In A Box is part of Habitat International's Operation Home Delivery
program to help victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita with the
most basic of needs--affordable housing.
We are sponsoring one complete
House in a Box for a family partnered
with a Habitat Affiliate in the hurricane damaged area.
The house will be framed at the Covenant Presbyterian Church campus,
1226 Salvador Avenue, Napa, CA and then shipped to the location where it
will be re-erected and completed. Volunteers that work on framing the
home in Napa will be invited to travel to the eventual installation
site to assist in completing construction.
We'll be announcing the date and time for a community meeting
regarding
House in a Box in the near future.
We need to raise $75,000 for this project.
The funds cover the cost of materials locally, shipping, and the
cost of completing the house at its permanent site. No funds donated
for building in Solano and Napa counties are being used for this project.
We have opened an OPERATION HOME DELIVERY FUND to receive donations
specifically for the House in a Box.
Donations to the fund should be sent to our offices at 110 Railroad Avenue,
Suite A3, Suisun City, CA 94585. As of April 10, 2007, $5,000 has been raised.
Look for a House in a Box fundraising event to be announced late
in Spring 2007. It will involve auctioning off playhouses and doghouses
sponsored and built by individuals, business and community groups in our
Solano and Napa service area. If you are interested in volunteering to
frame the house in a box, working on the fundraising committee,
and/or sponsoring and building a playhouse or doghouse please contact
Jack Baumgard at 707-422-1948 ext 0# or send mail to
